Project Spotlight: St Claudine’s Secondary School
Manufacture, Supply & Installation of Fire-Retardant Blinds

Luxe Blinds & Interiors is proud to have successfully completed the manufacture, supply, and installation of bespoke window coverings for St Claudine’s Secondary School. This project involved a total of seven fire-retardant roller blinds and eight fire-retardant vertical blinds, expertly tailored to meet both the functional and regulatory needs of the school environment.

As part of our commitment to safety and compliance, we conducted a detailed site survey and provided a comprehensive report outlining the specific requirements for installing blinds within an educational setting. This included adherence to UK fire retardant regulations (BS 5867 Part 2 Type B), which is essential in schools and other public buildings. We also ensured all installations met current child safety standards, including the use of appropriate safety devices to secure blind cords and chains.

To support the school in selecting the most suitable fabrics, we presented a curated collection of over 100 fire-retardant fabric options, allowing for a wide range of colours, textures, and light-control features. Together with the school, we selected:

- Blackout roller blinds*for classrooms, specifically to eliminate glare on interactive whiteboards, projectors, and computer screens, thereby improving visibility and concentration for both staff and students.
- Vertical blinds for office spaces, offering flexibility in controlling both light levels and privacy, essential for administrative and pastoral areas.

Understanding the operational demands of a busy school, we arranged for all installations to take place during half-term and after school hours, ensuring minimal disruption to students and staff.
